To support his family, Johnny dropped out of school after seventh grade and took on odd jobs, including selling pens on Mumbai’s streets. His big break came when he started performing at musical events organized by Bollywood stars. His mimicry of popular actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar quickly gained him recognition. It was during one of these events that director Sunil Dutt noticed him and gave him his first role in the film Dard Ka Rishta in 1982. This marked the beginning of Johnny Lever’s film career, though true stardom was still a few years away.
